THE CROWN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Introducing The Crown, where echoes of the past set the tone for future living. A collaboration between NEST and Shekinah Christian Church, and superbly brought to life by Marc G. Andre Architects, Crown is a transformative mixed-used, mixed-income development in the Crownbrook neighborhood of Waterbury, that is monumental luxury and offers residents a one-of-a-kind experience.
The original structure, the Chase Rolling Mill, was built in 1900 and over the next century served as a major contributor to the War effort and warehouse space. Sitting prominently on a hill and rising 6 stories, The Crown offers residents enduring panoramic views of the city and the Naugatuck Valley skyline, sunrise to sunset.
DESIGN CONCEPT
The redevelopment of 526 North Main St. is a 4.7-acre site housing the remnants of the Old Chase Rolling Mill Building, a 6-story building with full 29,537 SF cellar and ancillary buildings with crawlspaces totaling approximately 191,298 SF.
Initial architectural design outlines a comprehensive site plan depicting a campus like mixed-use development that incorporates existing and new buildings as well as outdoor spaces. The existing buildings are to undergo comprehensive renovations while incorporating modern amenities and functionality.
