Trayvonn Diaz
RLT Facilitator
Trayvonn Diaz is a proud Waterbury native, Wilby High School graduate, and lifelong advocate for community-driven public service. His passion for civic engagement was shaped by his experience in Connecticut’s foster care system and strengthened through his studies in Political Science and Philosophy at the University of Connecticut, where he earned his BA in 2015.
Before furthering his education to complete his Master’s in Public Administration in 2025, he began his career in a Fortune 50 Marketing Development Program then transitioning into public service where he would spend six years leading outreach and special projects in a U.S. Senator Chris Murphy’s office.
Today, he serves as the City of Waterbury’s Community Outreach Manager, representing the Mayor’s Office across neighborhoods, building strategic partnerships, and advancing the City’s legislative agenda.
Trayvonn has served as a City Plan Commissioner—approving property sales, rezoning districts, and casting votes that shape Waterbury’s future—and has served on the Charter Revision Commission as well as the District Reapportionment Commission.
In his free time, he serves as the Vice Chair of the Annie C. Courtney Foundation, which recruits and supports foster parents, and also serves on a number of Advisory Committees for the YMCA and the Leever Foundation to name a few. Deeply rooted in his hometown, he is committed to driving progress in education, housing, and representation.
